A brief, brisk country walk – a mere 400 yards from Blantyre’s Main House – lies the Carriage House, home to ten guest rooms with their own special character. Named for some of the Berkshires’ well-loved estates and country houses, these rooms include intriguing loft spaces, enchanting art, and the fine fabrics and furnishings that have become the hallmark of Blantyre.
On the first floor, through the arched entryway of the Carriage House – its original doors intact on the side – lies a welcoming public sitting area. Beneath an enormous gilt carved antique mirror from Ireland rests an overstuffed couch and chairs to relax in.
There are five separate guest rooms and one suite on the first floor. Each of the bedrooms has a door leading out onto a landscaped patio lined with boxwood hedges or Hornbeam trees. All of the patios are set with small tables and chairs, ideal for reading or lounging the day away.
On the second floor, there are five individual suites. The two suites on the south side – overlooking the pool are one level suites – including a bedroom, two bathrooms, an intimate charming sitting room with a desk, and a small outside balcony.
On the north side, there are three unique loft guest suites with staircases to their respective bedrooms with a little half-bath. Each has a spacious, entry-level sitting room with high ceilings, comfortable sofas and chairs, and a small balcony. A bathroom with a soaking tub and walk-in shower can also be found on this level. Original touches like rose velvet loft curtains, hand-painted beams and simulated stone railings add to the fun and flavor that make these Carriage House suites so popular with many of our guests.
